Along with our other sports leagues, Play Netball and Play 5-a-Side, we are excited to announce that, after working hard behind the scenes securing locations, umpires, kit and setting up leagues, we are bringing Play Hockey social leagues to locations near you, all around the country.
In 2022, we noticed that there was a huge demand for social hockey leagues, but lack of opportunities! The list of people leaving school who had loved hockey but had no opportunity to play again was growing, and so was the demand for the sport after the England men’s and women’s Hockey team’s successes at the last few Olympic Games.
Play Hockey Social Leagues for all ages and abilities!
We made it our mission to provide a high quality social league format and environment that was fun, friendly and suitable for all ages and abilities, but still with that slight competitive edge! Then Play Hockey was born!
We recently ran a successful trial season in Bristol at the John Cabot Academy, consisting of 4 teams playing each week for 8 weeks to see how it could run and what changes we could bring when we launch of our first official hockey league in September. We had some fantastic feedback about our trial league and has generated a huge buzz of demand in Bristol! Here’s what some of our players had to say:

We are quickly growing and have teams signed up in our flagship areas, and are currently establishing leagues in new locations for both men and women – our goal is to make Play Hockey social leagues available to everyone in the UK!
Everyone can sign up to Play Hockey social leagues!
Our first Hockey league will be starting on Monday 11th September in Leeds between 7-9pm, welcoming 6 teams of ladies all excited to begin/re-start their hockey journey! 5 out of the 6 teams that are starting were all created by Play Hockey from individuals who signed up alone – so there is no need to worry about joining as an individual because at least 80% of other people do too!
We strive to provide high quality, hassle free leagues, across all our different sports, for anyone wishing to revisit or begin hockey, netball or football! Our leagues are designed to fit around your work/home life, offering weekly matches usually beginning between 7-8pm (depending on location), to give you something to look forward to after a busy day and a bit of well-deserved ‘you’ time! Whether you play for fun, for fitness, or to win, our multiple divisions allow you to play against likeminded people of similar ability.
